The Vast Beach

The water park beach was divided into three segments like a pie. The 16 members had about and 1.5 to 2 hours per segment to recover what lies beneath.

Detectors in the foreground range  from Whites, Tesoro, Minlab, Garretts and others.

The Gathering

The group begins to assemble in the cool morning hours.  As the sun subdued the shade, things got pretty warm at the beach.  Hunt time was from 8am-1pm.

Break Time

After hunting each segment we assembled back at the stage deck to compare finds. Common coins were of course common.

Gold!

Three rings found by Michael Watts, two of which were gold, the other being only a plated ring.  The Soccer pendant was also gold and Mel Parker, had plans to give it to one of his soccer loving grandchildren.

Stone Mountain Treasure Hunters- The Gang

Sixteen members were in attendance.  All from differing metal detecting backgrounds.  Some were regular beach hunter, others, relic hunters, silver coin shooters and play ground scouts.

The club is very grateful to Lake Lanier Islands and its staff for making this a very successful event.  Aside from the coins recovered below the hunters collected a whole bucket full of debris from the sand including nails and other small chunks that beach goers do not want to encounter.  All debris was properly disposed of.  We hope to maintain our relationship with the island so we can have this great hunt again next year.
